BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The City of Bowling Green is clearing up some misinformation about a cutting-edge topic: mowing your lawn.

According to city officials, all Bowling Green residents can rest easy that an online post incorrectly stated that it is a Class D felony to mow your lawn after 4 p.m. Thankfully, in this case, locals’ yard work is not a criminal offense.

The city states there is no “After-Hours Grass Maintenance Regulation,” no “BG Municipal Code 112.4-B,” and no “Department of Lawn Enforcement.”

“Yes, we do encourage courteous lawn care practices,” the city stated Friday. “No, you will not be sentenced to five years in state custody for trimming your hedges at 4:01 p.m. And we’re not handing out $10,000 fines for revving up your mower.”
