McCool signs with Union Commonwealth University to continue football career
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Thursday afternoon over at Warren East High School, Raider running back Jackson McCool signed his letter of intent to continue his days on the gridiron as a Bulldog at Union Commonwealth University.
McCool heads to Barbourville after serving as a four-year starter on the Warren East defense, but he will be playing offense at the next level following two varsity years where he eclipsed 23 rushing touchdowns on 1,504 rushing yards.
Head coach Tanner Hall took over the program in 2023 and appointed McCool into a leadership position, which he believes will stick with him all the way from the ‘Smurf Turf’ throughout college.
“ I love being a leader. I’ve always felt like it’s my duty to lead and help lead others, so, you know, I’m excited to go into Union Commonwealth University and take a leadership role, hopefully pretty soon there, and just be a leader of men on and off the field,” said McCool. “You know, I’m super excited. You know, this has always been my dream since I was six years old. I started playing football when I was six, so this has been a dream that I’ve truly worked hard for. The excitement is incomparable to most things I’ve ever felt in my life.”
