WKU Player of the Week: Hilltopper pole vaulter Sam Crenshaw
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU track and field’s Sam Crenshaw earns today’s WKU Player of the Week honor after setting two school records for the program in the team’s past two meets.
At the Jim Freeman Open in April, the pole vaulter reached a height of 5.06 meters, soaring past the previous record of 4.72 meters held by a Hilltopper set back in 1965.
And then just one week later, Crenshaw set the 2nd place record of 5.04 meters to earn him a 3rd place finish at the Jim Green Invitational in Lexington.
This is just Crenshaw’s first year on the Hill, coming from being a two-time state champion in high school.
The freshman is now the indoor and outdoor program record holder for the pole vault.
