Franklin Planning & Zoning Commission holds meeting to discuss projects in Simpson County

FRANKLIN, Ky. — The Franklin Planning and Zoning Commission met this week to review a pair of significant development proposals drawing community attention.

The most talked-about item involves a potential industrial park on Steele Road. While plans remain in the early stages, some residents are raising concerns, particularly about how the area’s unique geography could be affected.

Dustin Miles, a local resident, addressed the Commission and emphasized one major issue often overlooked in such projects: sinkholes.

“One thing is the most visible one, probably the one we’re most familiar with: sinkholes,” Miles said. “They’re very common in this area, and when we get them, they’re not always as visible as that. It’s something we have to be careful about.”

Commissioners also reviewed and approved preliminary plans for a new Wawa gas station near Exit 6 off Interstate 65.

News 40 will continue following these developments and provide updates as more information becomes available.
