“Jonesville: When Sunflowers Fall” screens on WKU’s campus
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A new documentary highlighting an important part of the Bowling Green community was screened on WKU’s campus.
“Jonesville: When Sunflowers Fall” chronicles the history of the Jonesville community, the struggles residents faced when the university was looking to expand, and how descendants carry on its legacy.
Dr. Peggy Crowe, director of the Counseling Center at WKU, was also appointed chair of the Jonesville Reconciliation Workgroup, which helps to share the history of the community in ways like this.
She says it’s been eye-opening for her to learn these stories.
“I never fully understood that the campus I served as a residence hall director, student educator, learner, advisor, supervisor, administrator, was once a thriving community… the size of my hometown in central Wisconsin,” Dr. Crowe says.
You can view the documentary here. In it, you can hear firsthand from descendants of those who lived in Jonesville on how they’ve been shaped by its legacy and story.
