Devoted teacher is named Educator of the Year for a local county
METCALFE COUNTY, Ky. – Devoted teacher, Bryant Stockton, was recently named Educator of the Year for Metcalfe County.
As a Western Kentucky University alumnus, Stockton began his teaching career at Metcalfe County High School in 1998. He serves as one of the English teachers, and he is married to fellow English teacher, Jo Karen Morris. They have four children together.
Outside of school, Stockton is the Head Track & Field Coach and is the Co-Host of KY Sports Guys. He is also a singer/songwriter for the Hornets’ Nest Pickers band.
Students say they are inspired by his positive attitude and his giving heart. Riley (senior) says she aspires to be like her coach. She adds she “could never hold a candle to him” on the impact Stockton has had. Shiloh (senior) views Stockton as a “beacon of kindness” and as a light to his students.
Stockton was nominated for the Educator of the Year Award by former student turned colleague, Dr. Robert Bunch. Stockton says he is grateful to be a mentor to many.
He wants others not to take life “overly serious.” Stockton believes humor and kindness is something we all can do.
After 27 years of teaching and 13 years of coaching, Mr. Stocking is retiring in May. He wants to spend his free time reading, singing, and spending time with his family.
