Western Illinois guard Ryan Myers reunites with Coach Plona on the Hill

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Wednesday evening, Hilltopper head coach Hank Plona saw a familiar face announce his commitment to the WKU men’s basketball team in graduate guard Ryan Myers.

Myers comes to Bowling Green after spending two seasons with the Western Illinois Leathernecks, where he averaged 13.2 points per game in 61 games, with 38% of his shots falling (37% from behind the three-point line).

Before his time in Illinois, Myers began his college career with two seasons playing at Iona University under head coach Rick Pitino, where with the Gaels he saw decent time off the bench in 51 games.

Between the two seasons spent at Iona and Western Illinois, Myers was a starter in 28 of 34 games for the Indian Hills Warriors, and his head coach at the time was none other than current Topper head coach Hank Plona.

Now he comes to the Hill and reunites with his former coach, looking to lead the Tops back to the top of Conference USA.
