Mammoth Cave National Park to host volunteer clean-up event

MAMMOTH CAVE, Ky. – Mammoth Cave National Park is hosting a volunteer cleanup event on Tuesday, April 22.

In honor of Earth Day and National Volunteer Week, local volunteers are invited to help keep the park clean by gathering litter along roads, trails and visitor areas.

The event is set to take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Park officials say volunteers will meet at the historic Hercules train engine near the Caver’s Camp Store between 8:45 and 9 a.m. for check-in and receive orientation and a safety briefing.

The park recommends preparing with sturdy, closed-toe shoes, long pants, water, snacks, gloves and sun protection.

Officials say insect repellant, cleaning supplies and safety gear will be provided.

Participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

The park says this event is dependent on weather conditions. To follow updates on any event developments, click here.
