City of Oak Grove employee arrested for alleged theft of taxpayer money
OAK GROVE, Ky. – A City of Oak Grove employee has been arrested after a lengthy investigation.
According to the Kentucky State Police, detectives discovered Hailey Bamford, 38, of Fort Campbell worked as the city’s payroll accountant and human resource employee when she falsified her time entry and altered her time sheets since May 2022.
As a result, Campbell was arrested on April 14 on an indictment warrant at Oak Grove City Hall.
KSP says the investigation began after receiving information.
With assistance from the KSP Special Investigations Auditor, authorities say an audit showed multiple occurrences of false entries, altering, deletion and destruction of records related to business payroll for the City of Oak Grove.
The investigation revealed that from May 2022 through October 2023, authorities say Bamford falsified business records to gain city taxpayer money through theft of time for a minimum of $6,208.75.
Bamford faces charges of one count of abuse of public trust, less than $10,000, and 14 counts of tampering with public records.
Bamford was transported to the Christian County Detention Center.
