Lady Toppers will open CUSA Championship against Louisiana Tech

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Women’s Tennis will be the No. 6 seed in the upcoming Conference USA Women’s Tennis Championship, which will take place April 16-19 at the Liberty Tennis Complex in Lynchburg, Virginia.
The Lady Toppers will open play against Louisiana Tech at 12 p.m. CT on Thursday, April 17.
WKU finished the regular season last week with a 15-9 overall record. The 15 wins are tied for the third-most in a single season in program history.
It is the second straight season the program has reached the CUSA quarterfinals – the Lady Toppers also opened the 2024 tournament against Louisiana Tech in the quarterfinal round, but as the No. 5 seed. Prior to last season, the program had not been to the league’s quarterfinals since 2018.
WKU is 6-5 all-time against Louisiana Tech. The last meeting came in last season’s conference tournament – a 4-0 Louisiana Tech win. The Bulldogs enter this year’s tournament with a 17-8 record this season.
The CUSA Women’s Tennis Championship will begin on Wednesday, April 16, with a pair of 9 a.m. CT matches. No. 8 New Mexico State will face No. 9 UTEP, and No. 7 Jax State will take on No. 10 Sam Houston. The quarterfinal matches will take place on Thursday, April 17. In the top half of the bracket, No. 4 Kennesaw State and No. 5 Liberty will play at 9 a.m. CT, and top-seeded FIU will face the New Mexico State/UTEP winner at 12 p.m. CT. In addition to WKU’s match against Louisiana Tech on Thursday, No. 2 Middle Tennessee will play the Jax State/Sam Houston winner at 9 a.m. CT. The semifinals are scheduled for 9 a.m. CT on Friday, April 18, and the CUSA Championship Match is set for 9 a.m. CT on Saturday, April 19. All matches will be streamed on ESPN+.
