Beshear signs House Bill 15, lowering driver’s permit age to 15
FRANKFORT, Ky. – It’s now possible for 15-year-olds to get a driver’s permit in Kentucky.
On Tuesday morning, Gov. Andy Beshear signed into law House Bill 15, lowering the age for a driver’s permit from 16 to 15.
The bill was passed by the state legislature. The Senate gave final approval to House Bill 15 on March 11. The bill goes into effect immediately.
However, since the bill was signed today, it remains to be seen if a 15-year-old can go apply for a driver’s permit in Kentucky on Tuesday or if they must wait until Wednesday.
