Gov. Andy Beshear vetoes two bills he claims would hurt Kentuckians
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Over the last few days, Governor Andy Beshear has been hard at work, vetoing two bills that he says would hurt Kentuckians.
The first is House Bill 398, which would lessen protections on preventing falls or being exposed to toxic substances in the workplace.
“We make sure that we have Kentucky specific rules and protections so that your family member goes to work, is safe, and comes home where you all can make those special family memories… but House Bill 398, it set us back. It would prevent us from having Kentucky specific rules,” Beshear says.
The other is House Bill 495, which would have overturned the Governor’s ban on conversion therapy in the commonwealth.
Beshear signed that veto during the Fairness Dinner held in Louisville on Saturday alongside Lieutenant Governor Jacqueline Coleman.
“Conversion therapy is torture on our kids… and no one should ever want to have to subject a kid to something like that. Everybody out there… you’re perfect just the way you are. Keep being you,” he says.
