Barren County moves forward on Park City Amphitheater with Deco Architects

GLASGOW, Ky. – Big things are going on in Barren County, hoping to encourage more business and tourism in the near future.

Barren County judge-executive Jamie Bewley Byrd said she’s excited after this last fiscal court meeting approving the county’s contract with Deco Architects, who will be building the newest addition to Barren County. This new development will be right off of Interstate-65 next to Bell Tavern Park and feature not only an amphitheater but also a movie drive in.

The amphitheater will seat 3,000 people and be a for-profit endeavor to generate funds for Barren County and Park City. Byrd said she’s excited about the design and is hoping to have all the plans ready and figure out cost this fall season.

Byrd is ambitious about the project, saying if the funds are all there, then construction will move forward all at once as opposed to phases.

There is a private investor in the mix, according to Byrd, as well as the state’s secretary of tourism who has committed a helping hand once the project is over.
