Beautifying the parks of Munfordville: meet the new parks director
MUNFORDVILLE, Ky. – As Bowling Green and Warren County expand, the surrounding counties and towns are destined to grow with it.
Munfordville recently hired a new director of Parks and Rec, who has visions of bringing Munfordville’s parks to its full potential. Right now, Logan Bell is focused on baseball as the season is getting ready to pick up. They have spent tens of thousands of dollars getting the fields ready for the season.
Plans are also being made to purchase 16 more acres of land near the ball parks for baseball needs and resident enjoyment. Bell says sign ups for this season have already surpassed last years numbers and are looking to new additions for next year.
“The City of Munfordville has been great. They’ve given us a decent budget this year to be able to get everything upgraded. As you say, we’re already working on some stuff this year. We’re not sanctioned, but next year we’re going to sanction the Babe Ruth, get into Cal Ripken. That way we can join the Babe Ruth tournament and get the kids invited, as excited as well as joining in with Barren County and Glasgow and Scottsville and try to get those kids growing,” Bell said.
Bell says they have also been busy beautifying other parks as well such as Thelma Stovall park, which took damage during the recent flooding, equipping the park with pickleball courts and other amenities for the public to enjoy.
Much is in the works for the parks and residents of Munfordville. As south-central Kentucky grows, Munfordville is prepared to grow with it and provide the residents with what they need.
