CADIZ, Ky. (WKDZ) – A Trigg County sheriff’s deputy is expected to make a full recovery after being injured during a pursuit Tuesday that ended in Cadiz.
According to WKDZ, Trigg County Sheriff’s deputy Zachary White was shot twice in his chest and once in his arm.
Sheriff Aaron Acree visited White on Wednesday morning as he continues to recover at a medical facility in Nashville, Tennessee.
White, a native of Calloway County, is a March 2021 graduate of Kentucky’s Department of Criminal Justice Training Police Academy. He has previous experience with the Murray Police Department and Calloway County Sheriff’s Office.
WKDZ reports Acree said care for White has been tremendous, both internally and externally.
Recently promoted to sergeant, Acree said White is looking to “get back on the road soon” and that he has displayed “enormous amount of leadership” within the agency, over the operations division at the office.
Acree said there was “no indication” that there was going to be an exchange of gunfire in this pursuit, which began originally in Lyon County.
