Leitchfield police say they learned through an investigation that a Dodge Ram truck was turning onto Quarry Road from Beaver Dam Road. As the truck crossed the tracks, an eastbound train hit the back of the truck, flipping the vehicle off the tracks.
The truck stopped on the driver’s side next to Quarry Road.
Firefighters helped the 91-year-old male out of the truck.
K105 reports the man appeared to have no injuries and initially refused treatment. He was later transported by EMS to Owensboro Twin Lakes Medical Center after a relative insisted he go to the hospital.
They also report the railroad crossing had flashing lights but has no security barrier gates to keep traffic from crossing when a train approaches.
