Bennett earns CUSA Pitcher of the Week
DALLAS – Junior Jack Bennett was named the Conference USA Pitcher of the Week, as announced by league officials Monday afternoon.
Bennett, a native of Paducah, Ky., helped lead the Tops to a 2-0 win over Central Michigan in the second game of Friday’s doubleheader. The right-hander registered seven strikeouts in 7.0 shutout innings – tied for the second-longest outing of his career – while only giving up three hits and one walk on his way to his second winning-decision this season.
The junior has appeared twice so far in 2025 and has not allowed a run in 12.0 innings of work with 12 strikeouts. He’s only conceded seven hits, one walk and a couple of hit-by-pitches with just one hit going for extra bases.
This marks the first weekly honor for the Hilltoppers this season and the second CUSA Pitcher of the Week award Bennett has received in his career as he was recognized for his performance against No. 8 Dallas Baptist last year. The right-hander had a career-night in a near complete-game with 11 strikeouts in a 4-1, series-opening win against the Patriots.
Bennett and the Hilltoppers are on the road today, March 3 against Tennessee Tech at Bush Stadium in Cookeville, Tenn. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. CT.
