BOWLING GREEN,  Ky. – The WKU Lady Hilltoppers completed a season sweep over the UTEP Miners, picking up the 81-58-win Thursday night.

Both Alexis Mead and Josie Gilvin posted double-doubles in the victory, with Mead’s being her first-ever and Gilvin’s being her fourth consecutive on the season.

Destiny Salary and Acacia Hayes also packed on points against the Miners, Salary with 17 and Hayes with 12, which was enough for the junior to officially join the one thousand career point club.

After also winning the rebounding battle 39-26, head coach Greg Collins spoke on the difference in that area from WKU’s last game against Louisiana Tech to tonight.

“We did the same thing at Louisiana Tech, we were getting our tail handed to us at halftime on the boards at Louisiana Tech, and then here in the first quarter, and we just responded and ended up winning the rebounding battle,” Coach Collins said. “A lot of that’s, you know, Josie [Gilvin] and Alexis Mead going in there, Mariama Sow was good for us in there as well, and we just started doing a better job of boxing out and going after the ball with two hands”

Next up for the Lady Toppers is a meeting with New Mexico State in Diddle Arena, where the team will recognize their three seniors.

Tipoff in that contest is set for 2 p.m.
