Man is dead after being hit by train
FRANKLIN Co., Ky.- A man is dead after officials say he was hit by a train in Franklin last night. The Franklin police department says on Wednesday at 11:44 P.M., they got a call to respond to South Railroad at Breckenridge Street, concerning a man who had been hit by a train. The man was identified as 48-year-old Joseph Chastain of Franklin. The operator of the train told police that he did sound his horn but the victim did not get off the tracks in time and he could not stop the train in time to avoid hitting the victim. Police say alcohol may be a contributing factor as officers smelled the odor of alcohol from his
person. Chastain was then transferred to Vanderbilt Lifeflight and airlifted to Vanderbilt University Hospital in critical condition. He died due to his injuries at 4:30 this morning.
