WKU Athletics Player of the Week: Julius Thedford
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – This week’s WKU Athletics Player of the Week is Hilltopper basketball freshman Julius Thedford!
Thedford has made his way into the starting lineup under head coach Hank Plona for the last five games, and through his first week of Conference USA play, the guard has proven he’s able to compete at a high level against what’s shaping up to be a solid overall league.
In the road meetings with Liberty and FIU, Thedford led the Tops in scoring with 18 points per game, which ties his second-highest single-game total for the season.
Adding to his offensive production, he was able to tally nine rebounds and three steals, showcasing more of his well-rounded abilities.
Thedford made 13 of his 27 field goal attempts, but arguably the biggest of the road trip was at Liberty last Thursday, where the freshman knocked down a three pointer with just 32 seconds remaining in regulation, giving WKU their first lead of the contest and capping off a remarkable comeback over the Flames.
Next up for the Hilltoppers is a pair of home games inside of Diddle Arena, with Jacksonville State in town on Thursday and Kennesaw State following on Saturday.
