Senator Rand Paul does not support impeachment
BOWLING GREEN Ky.-Senator Rand Paul made a visit to his office in downtown Bowling Green this for his annual holiday party. But the holidays aren’t exactly what’s on the republican’s mind right now.
The House will be voting on impeaching President Trump this Wednesday.
If the House approves impeachment, Paul and his fellow senators will serve as jurors when the impeachment trial is heard in the Senate at the beginning of the new year.
Paul is a staunch defender of President Trump and a vocal critic of impeaching him.
“I think the President has some valid complaints, and people can agree or disagree whether it’s a good idea to send money to Ukraine or a good idea to hold it up for 50 days. At the same time, I don’t think that’s something we should impeach presidents over,” Paul said.
Paul also shared his thoughts on former Governor Matt Bevin’s controversial pardons before leaving office, saying that the governor’s power to pardon is a big power that needs to be used judiciously and carefully.
