Summers takes defensive coordinator job at Colorado State
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – In a time where WKU football is seeing many players decide to exit the program for outside opportunities, the same can now be said for the coaching staff, as defensive coordinator Tyson Summers has accepted the defensive coordinator role at Colorado State University, where he was on staff for one season in 2015 serving the same role.
We’re excited to welcome Tyson Summers back to the program as our Defensive Coordinator!
Summers was our DC during the 2015 season.

On staff for the Tops since 2022, Summers helped mesh the WKU defense into one of the best in the nation, charting amongst not just the top of Conference USA, but the top of all of college football in the turnover category each season.
He helped create post-college opportunities for a handful of players, with some landing in the NFL Draft and others earning training camp invites.
Now head coach Tyson Helton will be searching to fill a prominent role on his staff before the start of the 2025 season.
