Local counselor shares how to handle holiday grief

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The holidays can be hectic and tough, especially when you’re grieving, but coping tips can help you and your loved ones during the busy holiday season.

Taking your time and being more compassionate with yourself and others can limit the amount of stress that comes during the holidays. It can also help those who are grieving.

Speaking with a licensed professional counselor with Lifeskills Inc., News 40 learned that grief can affect people differently.

Dr. Kelly Thompson tells us, “…Everybody likes to be heard and understood. We’re social creatures. It’s not good to isolate too much. Sometimes it’s okay, but don’t overdo it.”

Thompson also recommends doing your best to listen to those dealing with grief. For more helpful tips, visit Lifeskills Facebook.
