Barren County Schools hosting fall food drive

BARREN COUNTY, Ky. – This Thanksgiving, you can make a difference by donating food to Barren County Schools through their partnership with Dr. Mody and the Too The Brim Food Drive.

The initiative aims to eliminate food deserts in rural areas and provide support to over 60 families in the Barren County area.

Cheyanne Fant, director of Nutrition Services, explains that the effort brings together community resources to help families in need while raising awareness about the reality that one in four children depend on school meals for their last meal of the day.

When donating, it’s important to consider the specific needs of those receiving the food. Items that are easy to prepare—like cans that don’t require a can opener or an oven—are especially helpful for families with young children. Fant recalls one recent donation of cases of soup, which will be distributed to families who need quick, accessible meals.

The good news is that anyone can participate in the drive, whether or not they are part of the Barren County School System. When the food is delivered, it will have a lasting positive impact, helping to ease food insecurity and brighten the holiday season for many families in the community.
