Greenwood and South Warren among schools receiving National College Success Award

WARREN COUNTY, Ky. – Three area high schools are being recognized with a National College Success Award.
Greenwood High School, South Warren High School and Barren County High School are part of the 31 Kentucky schools that have received the award from GreatSchools.org.
According to a release by Warren County Public Schools, the winning schools demonstrated a successful past of graduating students who enroll in two- or four-year colleges, are college ready and continue on to their second year.
“We want to provide vibrant learning experiences for all our students, which means we are ‘All In’ when it comes to making sure every student is equipped to succeed after high school,” commissioner of education Robbie Fletcher said. “For many, that means pursuing a postsecondary education. Our College Success Award-winning schools are models of excellence both within the Commonwealth and across the nation, underscoring our commitment to keeping students at the forefront of what we do each day.”
Over 1,400 winners in 19 states were selected for this honor, the release says.
“Whether students want to attend college, enter the workforce, or join the military, Barren County High School is committed to ensuring our students are ready for their future endeavors when they graduate. We provide thirty-seven career pathways, and through our partnerships with local businesses and industry, students are able to get first-hand experience in a wide range of work settings. We also work with multiple post-secondary institutions to provide college dual-credit classes and industry certifications. Our ultimate goal is to make sure each student is truly life-ready when they leave Barren County High School,” said Letitia Hughes, BCHS principal, according to Barren County Schools.
The release further states the award is possible since Kentucky is “leading the nation in both collecting and transparently sharing information on how students perform after high school.”
Congratulations to both area high schools on this accomplishment.
