Early season tests continue for WKU MBB
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU men’s basketball is gearing up for its first road trip of the season as it heads to Grand Canyon University Saturday night.
The Hilltoppers will be looking for their first win after falling to Wichita State at Diddle Arena in the season opener earlier this week.
The game will be the first-ever meeting between the two programs and an opportunity to end the Antelopes’ 17-game home winning streak, which is exactly the kind of challenge head coach Hank Plona wants for his squad during this non-conference schedule.
“We are trying to get back to the NCAA tournament and do better than we did a year ago,” Plona said. “We’re not treating this like my first season, we’re not treating this like any kind of celebration of last year, we’re treating this like we’re trying to make progress from where we were a year ago, and obviously here at the beginning, we thought there’s no better way than to see where we stand up by playing some really strong teams.”
