Down Dog now open in BG, providing one local family an opportunity
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A local family has opened up a business to give their daughter an opportunity to work.
Sarah Kessler and her mom Heather run Down Dog, just off Fountain Square in downtown Bowling Green.
Sarah was born premature, weighing only 3 pounds. As a result, she has faced a variety of challenges throughout her childhood, but her love of animals was a constant source of comfort… and now she gets to share that passion with her local community!
While the name of the store implies it’s a pet shop, it’s far more than just accessories for your furry friend.
They offer coffee and other items locally made, as well as shirts that include designs made by Sarah herself.
Heather says this is such a great opportunity for Sarah to develop so many skills she may not otherwise have the opportunity to get, while for Sarah, it’s a great opportunity to support the community.
“The ability to kind of be in charge of something, to work on her communication skills with people who come into the shop to help in the planning that it takes to actually create a business, and then to do the upkeep on all of the moving parts that it takes,” Heather says.
“It’s good to be able to help people,” Sarah says.
Down Dog is now open on East Main Avenue in Bowling Green, and will be hosting a grand opening celebration on Friday, November 8th.
They’ll have live music starting around 5:30, with snacks & treats for both humans & dogs!
They’re located at 308 1/2 E Main Ave in Bowling Green.
