BRASS hosts candlelight vigil at Circus Square Park during Domestic Violence Awareness Month
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Barren River Area Safe Space hosted the community at Circus Square Park for a candlelight vigil.
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and each year, BRASS recognizes a list of individuals by speaking their names.
In total, 84 names were spoken… 56 of those in the 10 county region served by BRASS.
Executive director Tori Henninger has one message for those in the community that want to help those affected by domestic violence.
“We all have a place to support survivors. Help them reach out for services. Believe them. Encourage and empower every person currently victimized to safely flee. It is not a simple task, but for some it is life or death,” she says.
The evening also included a song and stories from those who have survived domestic violence.
Henninger also says BRASS wants to hear from the community, which is why they had call to action cards so the community can give suggestions to help them out.
