Bowling Green woman’s family devastated by earthquake in Albania
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- A Bowling Green woman is asking for the public’s help after a devastating earthquake in Albania displaced her family living there.
Adriana Qehaja says her aunts, uncles, cousins and grandmother are left with nothing after their homes were completely shattered by the 6.4 magnitude quake. Albania’s defense ministry says 30 people died and more than 650 were injured as a result of the Monday earthquake. Qehaja’s family members are now sleeping on mattresses outside that they were able to salvage from the homes. Qehaja also says there is a shortage of water, food, blankets, wood and other resources.
Qehaja, who works as a staff assistant at a Bowling Green law office, has set up a GoFundMe account to help her family overseas. As if 3 p.m. Wednesday, more than $500 of the $3,000 goal has been raised.
