Hilltopper student-athletes hold High Five Friday at Jennings Creek Elementary

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Friday morning over at Jennings Creek Elementary School, Hilltopper student-athletes took part in ‘High Five Friday’, which is an awesome way to brighten the kids’ day as they get ready for classes.

In addition to the encouraging and special welcome, the kids had the opportunity to get autographs from some new and familiar Tops, and also play games in the school’s gym to celebrate another successful week.

The excitement is hard to miss for the children, with smiles spread across their faces all morning, but it’s also a special moment for the athletes who understand the impact they have in the community.

“That was me as a kid, like I looked on TV and you know, I never got to experience this,” WKU Track and Field junior Madison Rabe said. “I looked at those college players and I was like, I want to be them, and I want them to look at us and be like, I want to be them as good positive role models coming here every Friday.”

“It means a lot because I think a lot of the athletes here rely on the community because they support our games,” WKU Soccer sophomore Amanda Simpson said. “They support us no matter what happens, so, if there’s any way we can get back to them, we’re going to do it.”
