Bowling Green community mourns the loss of local firefighter

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Tonight, the Bowling Green community is grieving the loss of firefighter Stephen “Rosie” Rosebrook, who passed away following a collapse during the Bowling Green 10K run on Sept. 14.

After being rushed to the hospital, Rosebrook fought bravely but succumbed to his injuries, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and service.

The Bowling Green Fire Department reported the heartbreaking news Thursday, highlighting the impact Rosebrook had on those around him.

In a show of solidarity, firefighters, police officers, EMS personnel and community members rallied together to support Rosebrook’s family during this difficult time. A fundraiser was organized, with 100% of the proceeds going directly to Rosebrook’s family.

Local business owner Eric Cotton expressed the community’s gratitude, stating, “They give so much, every day. For us to be able to cook some barbecue and give the proceeds back to somebody that needs it is very important.”

Rosebrook’s memory will forever remain in the hearts of those he served, with the outpouring of support showing the impact he had on the Bowling Green community.
