WKU Football readies for matchup with Toledo
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Hilltopper football team will take on a tough matchup at home this weekend against the Toledo Rockets.
The Rockets are coming off a big win on Saturday after going down to Starkville and beating Mississippi State in convincing fashion with a final score of 41-17.
Although WKU knows that Saturday’s game will be a challenge, they too are coming off a big win this weekend, taking down conference rival Middle Tennesse State 49-21.
Here’s what the team knows about this week’s home matchup.
“Yeah, it’s a heck of a challenge, and a heck of a team to play in your first start,” quarterback Caden Veltkamp said. “I’m really excited to play them. They have a lot of good players on defense, and they don’t let up very many points. I mean, they just went down to Starkville and only gave up 17 points, so they have a really good football team and I’m excited.”
“Yeah, I mean, they’re a good football team. Defensively, they’re fast, they’re tough, they’re physical. You can tell they’re well coached, fundamentally and scheme wise,” tight end Trevor Borland said. “It’ll be a good test and, you know, we’re gonna have to play good to win.”
