City of Bowling Green hosts New Americans Reception to celebrate new citizenship

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – At the Sloan Convention Center, the city of Bowling Green hosted its 8th annual Reception for New Americans.

12 countries were represented, as hundreds of people officially obtained their citizenship in the United States.

City officials were on hand to congratulate these new citizens on this major accomplishment, and the city’s international committee liaison says she’s just as excited as those who are beginning their new life in the US here in Bowling Green.

“Every time that I hear about someone that has come from a very far-reaching corner of the world, like Madagascar, that really excites me to know that they have found a home in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and so have many other individuals from across the world… and that’s amazing that we have such a welcoming community, a welcoming city, and a welcoming state where people can feel safe,” Leyda Becker says.

Lots of other resources for the new citizens were also on hand, including representatives from the Bowling Green Police Department and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

A huge congratulations to all the newest citizens of the United States of America!
