Part-time Weather Anchor/Studio Tech
Weather Anchor
Meteorologists/Weather Anchors will analyze and interpret meteorological data and report it to our viewership both on air and online.
Duties and responsibilities
· Analyzes and interprets meteorological data gathered by surface and upper-air stations, satellites, and radar to prepare reports and forecasts for public and other users
· Studies and interprets synoptic reports, maps, photographs, and prognostic charts to predict long and short range weather conditions
· Operates computer graphic equipment to produce weather reports and maps for analysis, distribution to users, or for use in televised weather broadcasts
· Relays information to the public regarding tornado and other severe weather warnings·
· Work with Baron system and web publishing
· May broadcast weather forecast via television and digital media
· May be needed to fill in on various shifts or co-anchor for special segments
· May prepare special forecasts and briefings for specific audiences, such as those involved in air and sea transportation, agriculture, fire prevention, air pollution control, and school groups
· May direct forecasting services from the station, or on-site of a weather-related events
· May be requested to attend community activities that Marquee Broadcasting sponsors
· Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
· Undergraduate Degree in Meteorologyy or working toward a degree in Meteorology
· Proficiency in Baron HD Weather system preferred but not required.
Studio Technician
Downloads and edit footage into the designated format and presentation style for broadcast according to station standards & procedures. Creates/edits graphics/lower thirds, as necessary, according to station standards & procedures. Operates studio cameras, audio & direction boards, and other assigned equipment upon proper training/verification. Also operates studio cameras and equipment in the field and delivers clear, crisp video with clear audio.
Insures the technical and observable quality of all content is correct and all equipment is in optimal working condition. Assists in preparation of live news shows as needed using appropriate production checklists. Posts stories/graphics on website and social media accounts & promotes them. Monitors news/social media for breaking news and notifies appropriate personnel
Qualifications: Studio camera operation and Adobe editing/graphics software experience preferred. Specialized knowledge in broadcasting preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with special attention to detail. Adaptability and flexibility.
Physical Requirements or Restrictions: Some lifting of equipment may be required. Occasional work at various work sites.
Working conditions
Days, nights and weekends may be required.
Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs.
