Parents charged with criminal child abuse of infant in Franklin
FRANKLIN, Ky. – Two parents are facing child abuse charges in Simpson County involving a 12-week-old child.
Jeremy Glen Gosnell, 35 of Franklin, and Tabitha Nicole Wood, 33 of Franklin, were arrested on Monday on criminal child abuse charges.
According to indictment documents obtained by News 40, on or around March 6 through March 7, Gosnell and Wood “knowingly and unlawfully committed the offense of criminal abuse, first degree – child 12 or under” when they “intentionally abused” their 12-week-old child.
Court documents say the child had to be transported to T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.
In addition, the indictments state the infant had multiple bruises to the face, forehead, right cheek, a cut above the left eye, a cut on top of the scalp and seven total broken ribs.
Gosnell and Wood are charged with first-degree criminal abuse of a child 12 or under, first-degree wanton endangerment and endangering the welfare of a minor. Gosnell is additionally charged with persistent felony offender I.
Both remain at the Simpson County Detention Center.
