Beautify Barren County looks to bring pride to community
GLASGOW, Ky. – A new group is looking to bring a little pride to Barren County.
Beautify Barren County is currently working on three projects. The first involves cleaning up the median on US 31E near South Green Street in Glasgow.
Another median on KY-90 near the Cumberland Parkway is also set to be reworked.
The 3rd and final project on display was some potential sign ideas to welcome visitors to Barren County as they make their way up I-65 northbound at the Cumberland Parkway interchange.
The funds they’ll be getting to work on these projects will come from a couple of different sources: private donations and fundraising by the non profit.
“We’re putting forth community dollars into this… but also we’re putting forth private investment… community members that have done well in our community are giving back and getting to show how proud they are in our community… and that’s what we want to do. We want people to remember Barren County… we want to draw economic development here… and by doing those things, what we’re trying to do, it will drive economic development, tourism and people will remember Barren County for the good things,” Barren County Judge Executive & Beautify Barren County board member Jamie Bewley Byrd says.
News 40 will keep you updated on the timeline of these projects as they are completed.
