American Legion Park upgrades still underway, on schedule to be complete by 2025

GLASGOW, Ky. – A popular spot in Glasgow is currently closed for construction, but still on schedule.

American Legion Park has been under construction for months now, and the plan is to still have the upgrades finished by the summer of 2025.

Of course, these new upgrades are set to bring the first aquatics center to the city of Glasgow, along with new pickleball and basketball courts on top of an already existing playground and shelters.

We caught up with Glasgow Parks & Recreation director Eddie Furlong, who told us how impactful this change is for the community of Glasgow.

“That’s been a staple in the community for all those years… and this will be the first year that we haven’t had it… actually second year, COVID year got us… I know the community is super excited to have it back… we’re hoping to stay on schedule, we’re still looking for the summer of 2025… and fingers crossed that permits come back, weather’s good and all that good stuff,” he says.

Furlong says they also plan to add some new walking trails to the area as well once the park opens and expand an additional corner of the park after this upgrade is done.
