Physician responds, Bowling Green labeled as ‘Ozempic Town’
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- A recent Bloomberg article has dubbed Bowling Green as an “Ozempic Town,” reflecting the area’s growing use of the weight loss drug Ozempic.
Originally approved for managing high blood pressure and diabetes, Ozempic is now increasingly sought after for its weight loss benefits.
Despite its popularity, the drug can cause side effects such as constipation, nausea and pancreatitis.
The trend of using Ozempic is on the rise, and William Moss, chief medical officer at Med Center Health, acknowledges the drug’s potential benefits.
“If you compare it to drugs from the past decade versus those from the 1990s, we have a better understanding of their effects now,” Moss says.
Moss says Ozempic, which was introduced in 2017, gained widespread attention around 2020 and continues to see increasing demand.
