WKU soccer holds media day ahead of season opener
BOWLIGN GREEN, Ky. – On Tuesday, WKU soccer held its annual media day ahead of the Hilltopper’s season opener coming up this week against Austin Peay.
The team played two exhibition games during the preseason, with one game ending in a scoreless draw against Chattanooga and the other a 3-1 win over the University of the Cumberlands.
During media day, both the players and coach Jason Neidell spoke on the difference of this season’s roster and how the new Lady Tops have been adjusting on the field.
“We did lose quite a few seniors, and so we brought in quite a few freshmen and transfers,” graduate student Lily Rummo said. “It’s been really fun being on the older side. It’s been fun to be a mentor and be able to bring people into the program. And, of course, it’s been a learning journey.”
“They have been extremely coachable,” Neidell said. “It’s just been a really great preseason to be a coach because they’ve been so receptive and so sponge-like and trying to absorb as much information as they can. It’s been great. “
