Bowling Green Police go on “Duck Patrol”
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – In a unique approach to community engagement, the Bowling Green Police Department’s Community Engagement Department went around Bowling Green giving jeep owners a pleasant surprise.
It was a playful idea to hopefully bring some Monday joy to people while also scouting for potential new recruits. Officers drove around the city finding parked jeeps to sit a Bowling Green Police Officer duck or a Critical Response Team duck on, turning an ordinary day into a sweet memory. Sergeant Brad Hogue told News 40 that they wanted to brighten up a Monday with a little fun and a small nod to everyone in the community from the department.
The officers’ outing for the local community also served the dual purpose of attracting individuals interested in law enforcement careers. By incorporating an element of surprise and the excitement of acquiring a new rubber duck for your dashboard, the Bowling Green Police Department wanted people to know that they are both out and about and looking to grow the force.
