Allen County Primary Center chalks the walk to give students confidence before first day
SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. – The Allen County school year gets underway Tuesday… and the Primary Center spent the afternoon writing messages for the kids to see as they walk into the building.
They call it “Chalk the Walk,” a way for kids to get a boost in confidence before going into the first day of a new year.
Staff and community members were able to write these messages along the sidewalks near the front doors where car riders are dropped off, and by the bus rider entrance to the school.
As it turns out, having confidence going to a new place like this for younger students can be a game changer.
“Although it is a place where we learn and we try to make it very fun, having that separation can be really tough for kids… so coming into an environment where it is next level, the enthusiasm is there and the energy is there… just has a pivotal moment there,” Assistant Principal Matt Shepherd says.
The Allen County Primary Center decided to make “Game On” their theme this year, and Mr. Shep says the school is going to be taking their curriculum to the next level by adding more related arts and new programs to make this year the best yet for kids.
