T.J. Samson Hospital welcomes new therapy dog, Maggie

GLASGOW, Ky.- Studies have proven that when most people see dogs, they instantly get happier, and that’s because oxytocin, also known as the cuddle chemical, is released in your brain.

T.J. Samson is using this and starting a pet therapy program, and they are bringing on the five-year old golden retriever, Maggie, providing a release for anyone who enters T.J. Samson’s Hospital to ensure that everyone who needs to be uplifted is.

James Kuhn, the emergency department director at T.J. Samson tells us the impact for everyone who encounters Maggie.

He says, “Anytime you have a new service coming into a facility, you really want to set the standard from the get-go, and so we’re really setting that with Maggie, setting that president. And we really hope to see this program grow.”

Maggie is Good K-9 citizen certified and has done pet therapy for years, and she is not stopping anytime soon.
