Allen County-Scottsville girls soccer prepares for season

The Lady Patriots soccer team just wrapped up their second season in program history. The year saw a 9-9 regular season record, including two district wins and 47 total goals scored.

The numbers reflect a huge improvement from the team’s first year at ACS, due to a hardworking group of girls and the introduction of a new head coach Clay Dobbs.

Together, Dobbs and his squad are creating a winning culture at ACS and are looking forward to the upcoming season.

“He (coach Clay) really tries to hone in on technique,” senior team captain Gabby Corbett said. “First touch and control, and then our communication with each other. It’s not always been the best, but that’s something that’s really been focused on this year, a lot last year as well, but it’s really improved this year.”

“There’s nothing else I’d rather do this last year and this year is coach these girls,” Dobbs said. “Just to see the improvement as a coach, and the development both individually and as a team. It’s not about the wins and losses. I’m very competitive and I’d like to win every match, but that’s secondary to these girls and what they learn on and off the pitch.”
