Preschools learn about becoming Bowling Green firefighters
BOWLING GREEN Ky.-Children in the Warren County Public Library preschool program got a firsthand look at what it’s like to be a first responder.
The kids made a visit to the firefighters at the Bowling Green Fire Department’s main headquarters on Fairview Avenue on Thursday.
The kids learning about how smoke detectors work, and how firefighters go about putting on their gear to make sure they’re able to enter a burning building safely.
Those with the Fire Department said it’s beneficial to teach kids at an early age what their local firefighters do.
“It’s always a good idea for us to bring those kids in, especially when they’re little like this. We want to get them acclimated to how the fire department works and how a firefighter looks,” said Bowling Green Fire Department public information officer Marlee Boenig.
At the end of the event, the kids had a chance to take pictures with the firefighters.
