Annamae Millette competes in National Soap Box Derby race
WARREN COUNTY, KY.- Soap box derby season is not over yet and South Central Kentucky will be represented in the national race.
Nine-year-old, Annamae Millette is competing this week in Akron, OH, because of her success here locally. Annamae competed at Philly Moore Park and got first place in the competition. We spoke with Caroline Millette, her mother who shared how this impacted her. Caroline says, “We’ve enjoyed seeing her. She loves it when they cross the finish line. She knows she’s done. and, to watch her confidence grow. Last year, she was really nervous about being in the car.”
Not only did Annamae compete, her brother also played a big part in the race. Jack Millette Annamae’s brother and a Soap Box Derby racer tells us how this is also exciting for him.
Jack says, “If your sibling is racing the other sibling get to wave a flag when they cross the finish line. It feels good. I’m excited for it. And I feel like she’s going to do a good job. ”
Annamae, Stock Matthew Blakeman, and Super Stock Sophia Rosa will all be competing in the Super kids national race in Akron Ohio. For more details, visit https://bowlinggreen.soapboxderby.org/.
