Nuclear for Brownfields Site Preparations Act signed
WASHINGTON – As the world looks for more efficient, and cleaner sources of energy, nuclear has taken a front seat for what the future could look like.
President Biden recently signed the Nuclear for Brownfields Site Preparation Act, allowing for the development of nuclear facilities on the sites of retired fossil fuel facilities. The Nuclear Regulation Commission would develop and implement strategies to provide these sites with the capabilities to run nuclear facilities.
News 40 talked with the bill’s sponsor, Kentucky Congressman Brett Guthrie, and he tells us that nuclear is a crucial part of the future. Guthrie says energy sources like wind, and solar are unreliable, and don’t provide the energy output that country needs.
This new law will allow for the country to take advantage of an already existing infrastructure and will help provide both a cleaner environment and a stable source of energy.
