Glasgow Housing Authority warns of rental scams
GLASGOW, Ky.- If you use the housing authority as a resource, you are encouraged to listen closely and remain cautious.
According to the Glasgow Housing Authority, people are receiving emails about properties available for rent, and these properties are scams.
Scammers are taking property listings and posing as the homeowner. This is not only illegal, but it also negatively impacts people who are in need.
Executive operations officer Sheri Lee of the Housing Authority of Glasgow shares her biggest concerns.
She says, ” What we’re afraid of is that someone is on limited resources. So with the scarce resources they have trying to find, a decent, safe, and sanitary home, it could prevent them from keeping a roof over their head.”
The Glasgow Housing Authority says this could be happening to several agencies that help with housing, so you are encouraged to ask questions, and don’t hesitate to call your local housing authority.
