July recognized as Minority Mental Health Awareness Month
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- Mental health affects every single person, but July is designated to bring awareness to minority mental health.
There are many reasons someone may be struggling, whether financial stress, employment, language barriers, or simply less access to resources and healthcare.
Agencies like Life Skills are providing resources and assisting those in need to overcome any mental, emotional or social well-being insecurities they may have.
School-based therapist for Life Skills, Janet Rodriquez, says, “There are people that do not have access to mental health, and it brings a light that there still is a stigma around mental health, and just a softening understanding that hey we hear you, we get you, we know that this is hard, we are here for you, we are here to serve you.”
If you are struggling with your mental health, therapists recommend talking to a loved one and reaching out for help if you need it. If you need immediate assistance, you can call the 988 Suicide and Crisis Hotline at any time.
