Illinois Clinic Uses Special Helpers To Treat Patients

CHICAGO, Il.- An Indiana Medical Clinic is taking a unique approach to put patients at ease. The clinic has two French bulldogs that serve as a source of comfort for those undergoing treatment.

The Integrative Medicine Laser And Aesthetics Clinic focuses on harnessing the ability of dogs to alleviate stress and create a calming environment for patients, with the help of Frank and Stella.

Dr. Charnjit Pabla is the visionary behind this initiative, explaining that studies have illustrated the therapeutic benefits of interacting with pets, especially dogs. According to Dr. Palba, spending time with animals can help lower blood pressure and reduce anxiety in patients.

Dr. Charnjit Pabla, integrative medicine, laser, and aesthetic shares why she started the practice saying, “I started a practice and I thought, how interesting would it be to have animals in our practice to help with that calming atmosphere. Not only help our patients, but our employees.”

For many patients, visiting a doctor can be a source of significant stress. To ensure a comprehensive appointment experience, Dr. Pabla brought the energetic pair in.

Roesch says it has fostered a sense of community and support for her family while seeking medical care, sharing,

“I think of the places where they take them to nursing homes and it makes people happy. Obviously, if you’re not an animal lover, but I love them. It’s like they’re my first thing and if you’re anxious about something they come greet you.”

In a world of stress and uncertainties, these dogs show that healing encompasses more than just physical treatments. There is a lot of research and literature out there that are connecting things such as gut health with mental health.
