Bike4ALZ makes stop in Bowling Green on cross country tour
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A group of Western Kentucky University students made their way back to Bowling Green after biking across the country for a good cause.
Bike4ALZ Team 12 made their way to campus Monday. This group of 12 students has been biking all across America to raise money for those fighting Alzheimer’s.
They’ve been on the road since May, starting in San Francisco, California… making their way through Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri & Illinois before stopping in Bowling Green.
One of the members of Team 12 explains what keeps them going.
“Everybody on this team has a why… and even if it’s not a complete personal connection like I have with my grandma, there’s so many people out there affected by this disease and all the forms of it… even if some of the guys don’t have personal… we’re riding for each other and… all the guys on my team are also riding for my grandma. So… we’re doing this for everybody that’s affected by this and that’s really why we go out and we wake up every morning super early on the bikes to beat the heat,” Tanner Blood says.
Team 12 will be hosting an event at SOKY Marketplace Tuesday night from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. as they try to reach their donation goal of $150,000.
Their ride finishes up on July 28th in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
